Young People

Saturday 3 June 2017 - 3  pm - Church Hall, Avondale Drive

Over recent months Messy Church had grown from a germ of an idea into a monthly activity attended by as many as 60 children and their parents and carers. With the demise of Sunday School following the change in time of the Sunday service Messy Church has become the only spiritual contact between the children of the parish and the established church.

For those of you that don't know, Messy Church is a vibrant meeting of children and adults in an informal setting that introduces the children to Jesus in a fun filled and relaxed atmosphere. Our monthly meetings start with a host of activities centred around a biblical theme, followed by a short talk by the vicar to consolidate the message of the activities and finishes with a light tea to cement the fellowship that we have enjoyed together.

Our activities and Messy Fun have included obstacle course, rainbow bottles, edible arks, doves, rolling the stone, giant palm cross, kites, decorated candle holders, tissue paper fish racing, mouth-watering mountains, how lovely are the mountains are the footprints, lilies of the field, Gods holy mountain collage, treasure hunt, road signs, edible nests using lots of paint, glue, paper of all sorts, sequins, ribbon, water, chocolate, sausages, cheese.  Looking forward to sand. and clay activities and a bit of fishing too for the Bible seaside theme.

Our themes to date have been "New Life in Jesus", "New Life in the Spirit" Pentecost, "Bible mountains",  "Bible roads" and are looking forward to "Bible seaside's" at our next Messy Church.
We have tried to share a little of our FUN by bringing displays and activities into church to share with the congregation.

When I took on the role of organising Messy Church I felt collared but am gradually accepting that it might have been a calling after all. A huge THANKS for all the support given to me and to Messy Church.

What about you? Do you feel called to help at messy church or can I collar you?

If you feel that you are called or can be collared into offering help then please listen out for the announced planning meetings. If at this time you don't feel that you can help then please come and join us at Messy Church to enjoy the fellowship and see why my collaring has become a calling.

Without sharing Gods teaching with the young of our parish I cannot see where the future is for us all - PLEASE help to spread the word and enjoy the FUN we can ALL have.
